How I can Help

I don’t think many would argue that planning is a good thing and even a necessary activity for a church to grow.  Besides, failure to plan is a plan to fail. If you have been around the church world much, you know that leading change requires others to understand, adopt, and even own the mission and the plans to get there.  This is why group strategic planning is so effective.  However, facilitation that process is often difficult for people to do and keep everyone focused on where the church is going.  This is where I come in.  As a facilitator, my job is to walk people through an intentional process to see help others see and own where they are, where they want to go, and what they need to do to get there.  As a facilitator I do not produce the content, only the process.  Sometimes it is necessary for a church to do a deep dive that involves a comprehensive assessment of their community, the current state of their church, identification of their mission and vision, facilities assessment, etc.  This is what is called a General Church Consultation.  However, many at in the spot where they know their mission and vision or rather why they exist and where they are going and do not need a comprehensive consultation.  However, they would benefit greatly from someone coming in to lead then in their strategic planning session.  Many churches I know have these planning discussions, but find it difficult to really identify what they need to focus on now and how to make this manageable.  This is where my Strategic Planning Facilitation service would be very beneficial.  There are other ways that I can help such as Action Plans coaching and branding or logo creation.  As an outsider, I would not be trying to push my own agenda, but rather make recommendations based on the comprehensive information, both objective and subjective, that was gathered in the process.

General Church Consultation

Strategic Planning Facilitation

General Info:  A general consultation is a comprehensive assessment of the entire church and the community in which it resides.  It will gather both objective data and subjective perspectives to help a church identify who they are and who they are trying to reach.  It will also involve perspective from the leadership and the congregation to get a temperature of the church’s current health.  It will also include the perspective of a secret guest and facilities assessment.  The goal of this consultation is to identify key elements of the church that need attention to become strong and healthy.  Think of the general church consultation in the church world like what a general practitioner is in the medical world.

General Info: The strategic planning session is an intense planning session that would utilize a variety of perspective pieces to identify the church’s current position relative to its mission and vision.  I will refer to this as point A.  It then shifts to facilitating a discussion to identify and clarify the mission and vision of the church.  I will refer to this as point B. Additionally, the discussion will identify the four most crucial objectives the church needs to focus on to reach there mission and vision.  I refer to these as W.I.N.s.  After the W.I.N.s are identified, the discussion shifts to breaking them down into manageable and measurable goals are nailed down.
